Shop made san-mai using soft stainless cladding. It’s been a while since I’ve welded up stainless to a carbon core. I have in the past kasumi finished the bevels, but with this one I have layed down a machine finish that’s just ready for work. Of course you can go ahead and kasumi the bevels if you please. As with all my forged knives the geomety is forged in and the blade is stiff with little to no flex, a mid weight but still thin where it needs to be. The handle is bog oak from the UK, a type of hybrid handle shape I have shaped many times.
Specs
218mm length
52mm @ the heel
247gram
6mm at the handle - 1.9 mid - 1.7 at the shinogi
handle is bog oak (UK)
cladding stainless 416
core steel Aogami2 (JPN)
profile has minimal belly throughout with a small falt at the very heel
Please note: this knife is not stainless and will rust if not cared for, care instructions will be sent with the knife along with handle paste and blade oil.
